CELTIC MUSIC & IRISH STEP DANCING

Evening of Celtic Music and Irish Step Dancing at the Egyptian Theater, Ogden

7:00 PM on Saturday October 11, 2008

Ogden Valley's fiddler Theresa Ellis will kick-off the three part Celtic "package show" at Peery's Egyptian Theater 7:00 PM on Saturday October 11, 2008. An Evening of Celtic Music and Irish Step Dancing will be filled with jigs, reels, old and new music from the emerald isles, Scottish, Irish and beyond.

Promoter Rod Bulloch of Provo, Utah is the Deputy Commissioner of the Rocky Mountain Clan Donald (USA) and says this represents ancestors from one of the largest clans in Scotland. He is putting on the concert to remember and support the Scottish heritage.

The celebration concert will start off with Theresa Ellis and her group featuring an entourage of 3 fiddlers playing traditional and some original Celtic style music from the Ellis & Franklin album Traveler. Joining her are OV residents Gary Kelso, bass & guitar, Joe Clem, percussion, Joy Dacquel Clem, fiddle, Eileen Dempsey, fiddle and electric bass of Ogden and Frosty MacWilliams, whistle, guitar, and mandolin from Plain City, Utah. Theresa hails from Detroit, migrated south to Nashville, Tennessee and has performed with many famous musicians over the past 30 years. In her career she played solo violin, fiddle, and played in string sectional recordings with the Nashville Symphony and fiddled on the famous Grand Ole Opry stage. Theresa is currently the band, choir and orchestra teacher at Snowcrest JH and is involved with the Grounded in Grace GIG Community and the Triangle of Empowerment Retreat October 3-4, Eden.

LaRae R. Thackeray's performing dance group Celtic Beat, from Layton, Utah will feature Irish Step Dancing.

The Galloway Pipes and Drums will wind up the evening. "Hearing the pipes and drums off in the distance conjures up many images in our minds ... a lone piper on a cliff playing to the colors of a beautiful setting sun ... the sight of children lined up along the streets waving flags as the reverberations of the pipes and drums echo between the buildings ... and sadly, the memories of a fallen comrade. Yes, the pipes and drums are all of these. They are steeped in tradition and bring a charge of emotion to all who hear."

Renew your Celtic roots or just come and enjoy the festive night concert ceilidh (party) at the Egyptian Theater (map), 2415 Washington Blvd Ogden, UT, October 11. Tickets $8 call theater box office Ogden 801-395-3227. Discount pre-sale and student tickets for $6 call 801-745 -9490 until the week before the concert.

Violinist Theresa Ellis will be giving a workshop called New Prairie, sound therapy Saturday 1:45 to 3:15 PM. The season of fire on the prairie is devastating, yet necessary for rebirth, for reseeding. Remember your fiery life experiences, gain insights of those moments, release hidden emotions and allow the passage toward balance. This is a quiet, private growing experience to have this day alongside other participants. Travel your personal journey to truth and individual understanding while experiencing the live music rendition "New Prairie".

The healing circle gathers after the live performance. Like the Native American Indian style, you are seated around the room, taking turns to pass the Apache violin, and speak of your insight or new awareness. You may share if you choose during this time, the feelings and experience you had or reminiscences. The purpose of this workshop is to orchestrate harmony and the hope that you will resonate with joy and new self awareness. Explore nuances of sounds, color and self awareness to attain revitalization, and healing.

In addition she will be charging a nominal fee for Cranial bodywork by appointment, sign up at registration. This is a Holistic approach to inner balancing. Traveler CD's with New Prairie will be available for sale at the Retreat and Workshop.
